We did not set out to write a standard. But once you see the difference between light and lighting, the gap is everywhere, hiding inside the most beautiful lamps on the floor.
Once we saw it, we could not unsee it.
Our cordless standard
We kept walking into the most beautiful rooms. Striking lamps, unique designs, finishes chosen with real care. And then we started to notice something.
The same lamp that looked extraordinary at eight had drifted by eleven. One table too bright, another fading, a third already dark. The design was flawless. The behaviour was not. At first we thought it was bad luck, a single venue, a single batch.
It was not. Room after room, country after country, the same pattern sat hidden inside the most admired lamps on the floor. Chosen with the eyes, in an afternoon. Handed to a team that would fight them every night after.
Slowly it became clear. Those beautiful designs were unreliable, and a liability for the staff who had to run them.
Once we saw it, we could not look at a lamp the same way again. And neither will you. Open a few listings with what is on this page in mind, read past the word hospitality, and the gap is impossible to miss. The industry never agreed on a standard. So we wrote it down. Not a standard we invented, but one the rooms had been keeping all along, waiting for someone to say it out loud.
Three things a lamp must do, or it does not belong on a hospitality floor.
The first
A room must never go dark.
"It is eleven, the room is full, and on table twelve the light quietly dies just as the dessert is ordered. No one notices until a guest is sitting in the dark."
Your atmosphere should never depend on which battery survived the shift. The part that fails should never be the part you cannot reach.
A worn cell swaps in seconds. Nothing waits for a dead table.
One charge holds a full service. First seating to last, with room to spare.
A tired battery costs a battery. Never the lamp.

The second
One hand must hold
the whole room.
"A guest leans over and turns the lamp up to read the menu, and just like that, one table no longer matches the rest."
Control should never be a task you repeat every service. A room reads as one only when every table moves together, from one hand.
Every table at once
Bar, dining, private, terrace. Never lamp by lamp.
One warm tone, held
A whisper to full, candle to daylight. Dim one, all of them dim.
Set once, then locked
Saved in a press. No guest can move the room.

The third
A lamp must outlast the service,
not just the showroom.
The lamp was chosen with the eyes, in an afternoon. The floor handles it a hundred times a day.
A lamp is not chosen by the people who run it. It must answer to the floor, not the afternoon it was picked in.
